BMW designs and manufactures each of their vehicles with performance, comfort, and fun in mind. Automotive agencies and organizations recognize BMW for their innovation and design by awarding them top honors in many different categories. Here are some of the latest awards BMW received for their 2017 models.

The Goldner Computer Award For ConnectedDrive

The BMW 5 Series recently received the Goldner Computer Award for the ConnectedDrive system. Computer Bild, one of the top computer magazines in Europe conducted a survey, and BMW was the only car manufacturer to receive an award. The third annual Goldner Computer Award specifically for the Connected Car category recognized the BMW Connected system because of its functionality and its data security. This system connects the 5 Series vehicle to the user’s smartphone and allows them to use either the system in the car or their phone to e-e-mail, manage their calendar, and more.

iF Design Award 2017

BMW models took home five awards from the iF Design Award 2017. The Gold Award, which is the highest honor, went to the 5 Series Sedan in the Automobiles/Product category. The award recognized the vehicle for its sporty design, brand recognition both inside and out, and its visual presence. The iF Design Awards began over 70 years ago to honor German designs, but over the years the awards have spread across the globe and now recognize design and innovation around the world. The iF recognized four other BMW vehicles with their Design Award including some concept vehicles.

Best Designed User Experience

At the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the EyesOnDesign Awards gave the 7th generation BMW 5 Series the Best Designed User Experience Award. This honors the vehicle with the best variety of technology and design that work together to create the ultimate user experience. The 5 Series includes the BMW Gesture Control and the latest generation of BMW’s head-up display along with a remote 3D view. The 5 Series also has improved voice controls with natural voice input which contributed to its win. All of these worked together to bring BMW up above its competition when it comes to the user experience.

2017 Urban Car Award

The new BMW i3 is the first winner of the new 2017 World Urban Car award. The vehicle received the honor at the New York International Auto Show based on the vehicle’s sustainable mobility. The i3 is BMW’s first all-electric vehicle, and it has more range than others in its class along with a more dynamic performance. The 2017 model has a higher density lithium-ion battery that gives it a 50 percent increase in capacity, and it will go from zero to 60 in a little over seven seconds.

These are just a few of the many awards BMW received for their 2017 model vehicles. Both in the United States and overseas, the manufacturer collected awards for their design, user experience, safety, and more.
