In 1956, Frank Ford, Lee Gruber, and Shelly Gross began the process of turning an underdeveloped industrial site into a premier destination for entertainment. The venue started out as a large striped tent and 1700 individual chairs, and after 10 years of presenting some of the biggest theater productions, the tent was transformed into a fully-enclosed theater-in-the-round. Since then, the Westbury Music Theater has hosted some of the biggest names in music like Bruce Springsteen, Tony Bennett, and Diana Ross.
